Maria Psihogios

Maria Psihogios

Maria Psihogios recently graduated with a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Ottawa, and is now pursuing her residency in Pediatric Medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She is enjoying the journey to the fullest; working with patients has taught her lessons far beyond those of pathology and physiology. She’s gained invaluable insight into the therapeutic relationship between patient and doctor, about the psychosocial determinants of health and the practice of medicine as not only a science but also an art.

Both passionate about medicine and working with youth and children, Maria’s aspiration is to fuse both these areas of interest together and become a pediatrician “when she grows up.” She is an advocate for empowering others to lead healthy lives in a holistic manner that allows them to enjoy the utmost well-being and self-fulfillment. Maria recently started a blog, Positively Profession-elle, in order to put her love for creative writing to good use by sharing her own perspective and experiences when it comes to finding balance between work and life. Essentially, it is a blog dedicated to all young women who are on the great journey of achieving their dreams in life, who are infinitesimally passionate about something in life that drives them to make a difference in our world, who are willing to go the extra mile to reach their full potential.

Over the years, Maria has involved herself with research in mental health as well as immersed herself in work pertaining to health prevention and promotion for both the young and young at heart. She also greatly enjoys traveling, the study of languages, and experiencing new cultures through music, dance and cuisine. She has thus taken on a number of leadership roles in cultural associations and most recently engaged in a medical placement and cultural immersion program in Greece.

Maria feels blessed for the support of her friends and family, and considers enjoying a coffee with friends in a cozy coffee shop as one of her favorite activities. She strongly believes that with a bit of creativity, a tad of inspiration, a classy set of pearls and an occasional, perfectly-made café mocha, anything is possible!
