Round out the last month (hopefully) of your hot summer nights by cooking up a connection with sports. All you need is an in to get a conversation started and these topics will do just that all month long at the office, on a date or around your kitchen table.
Enshrined controversy.
All eyes are on Canton, OH as the newest members of the NFL (National Football) Hall of Fame will be inducted (August 4). Fans are getting excited because football is back. As part of the HOF festivities, the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens are playing in the first preseason game of the 2018-2019 season (August 2).

The big controversy is who won’t be there. We’ve all been upset about a facet of our career, but would you be mad enough to sacrifice your crowning achievement? Former player Terrell Owens is being enshrined but is not attending because he doesn’t like how the media portrayed him during his career nor the fact that his name was on the ballot for three years until he was voted in. He’ll be the first living inductee to miss the ceremony.
Looking to the stars.
While most kids are off at camp making s’mores and stargazing, little leaguers everywhere are dreaming of ending their summer in Williamsport, PA in the Little League World Series (August 16-26).

We’ve all had our eye on that promotion and the corner office. These kids are no different than the rest of us, striving to reach the stars. More than 45 MLB (Major League Baseball) players played in the Little League World Series as kids, so dreams do come true.
Time to tailgate.
Say sayonara to your adulting Saturdays and hello to breakfast beers out of a red Solo cup in a parking lot because college football starts this month on the 25th.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be defending their title this season. They’re quite the powerhouse, winning four of the past seven national titles. When you’re in the breakroom celebrating a co-worker’s birthday with cake here’s a sweet fun fact to share. Alabama’s coach, Nick Saban, eats a Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pie before every game. (If you want some of our reader’s favorite tailgate recipes, here’s a few to try. Little Debbie’s not included).
