Hello SOTGC community,

At some point in life, you are bound to doubt yourself and what you are capable of. It is a scenario that most people can identify with. It might be in your work, public speaking or any other situation that makes you doubt your abilities. While you can avoid some of these situations, there are those that are inevitable and you have to face them at some point. The earlier you deal with your confidence issues, the easier your life becomes.

When it comes to your job, you want to give it your best. But sometimes this will not be possible if you always feel less confident about it. What then can you do to improve your confidence? To start with, follow the ways stipulated below and within no time, you will be bursting with confidence.

  1. Have More People In Your Network

Career networking is a must for a person who wants to go far in their careers. But once you make that network static, then you will be sure you won’t go far. Make it dynamic in that it changes every so often. The more new people you interact with, the more your confidence levels increase. Also, note that they help you grow in your job by giving you new insight on the changes in the field you are in.

  1. Find a Mentor

Look for someone who can help you deal with any challenges you may be experiencing in your job. Look for someone who has been in a similar situation and succeeded. He/she should be like career coach or someone to help you rebrand yourself.

  1. Learn a New Skill

Make everyday a chance to learn something new. There is nothing that kills your confidence faster than becoming dormant in your work. You basically don’t grow anymore and with time, you start feeling frustrated and no longer enjoy what you do. If this is the case with you, you need to move out of your cocoon and learn a new skill. It will not only open doors for possible promotions, but also make you feel more fulfilled. Take a new part-time short course in the field you are in or attend an advanced seminar.

  1. Set Goals for Yourself

Once you have a clearly defined goal on what you intend to achieve in a specified period of time, then you’ll be sure you mind will be focused towards that goal. This leaves no chance for self- doubting. Try as much as possible to achieve your goals and once you do, set new ones. Ensure they are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound).

  1. Appreciate Your Small Wins

Most time, your confidence levels fall when you are too harsh on yourself. Be kind to thyself. If you set a goal and turns to be too hard to achieve than you earlier thought, don’t take that as being a failure. Instead, appreciate the many you have achieved in the past. The more you appreciate the things you have accomplished, the more you believe in yourself and at the same time get the motivation to do much more.

  1. Volunteer Your Time

Every once in a while, take time off work and volunteer your services to other people. Lifestyle news indicates that nothing makes you more fulfilled than giving back to the community. Do something good for the world. You will be surprised this is the time you will meet new people most and consequently broaden your network. At the same time, you will learn how to converse with new people and get more comfortable whenever you are in a new environment.

  1. Update your Resume regularly

This will help you apply for better jobs whatever situation you are in. Never let it reach a point where you feel the level above you is too high for you. Never allow yourself to doubt the many capabilities that you have. Don’t forget to join platforms like LinkedIn where you get to meet people who have excelled in their jobs. You may learn a thing or two. At the same time, you open yourself to new opportunities as there you find a large pool of potential employers.

  1. Believe in Yourself

I know that statement sound like a cliché but in reality, it does apply. Nobody will believe in you if you don’t. You can do it; you have the skills, right? If you feel like you aren’t good enough, practice some more until you are confident in your skills. One of the healthy living tips is giving everything you do your best. Things always work out for the best.

Conclusion

The above tips will help you find and build confidence in your job. The good thing is they are practical and you can apply them as soon as possible. Try them and see how best they work out for you.
