Hello SOTGC community,
The sheer torture of expanding our marketing strategies has reached an all-time high for those who are looking to take their business to the next level. There are just too many choices. Last time I checked, (and I checked, and I check often) there was a new app, icon, blog, image, website, social network … let’s stop there because it is exhausting. A business will create social media pages, expecting fans to flock to their website. Imagine you open a retail store on Main Street and don’t tell anyone about yourself and your products. How much business do you expect?
During my years working at the Chamber of Commerce, I would coach our members to market their business services and products. The telephone will not ring, customers will not come into your store, and no one will talk about you unless you talk about yourself first. That’s marketing in its simplest form.
Sanity-Saving Marketing Rules for the Entrepreneur
1. Learn to coexist. Become a marketing master. Depending on your business, social Internet marketing and the ole’ school of face-to-face, pick-up-the-telephone marketing must be a priority to expand your business.
2. Identify with others. Marketing is very dynamic, and giving your marketing campaigns a personality is critical. Don’t be too sale-sey. Consumers need you to share your products and services, and they need your encouragement for why they want your product.
3. Service, not sales. Marketing has changed from the days of hard-hitting ads. Today’s marketing strategies have become a two-way communication tool. Your marketing should be inviting consumers to interact with you. The more engagement, the better results. Engagement is critical. You engage by asking questions, getting others’ opinions, or just sharing information that will help them have a better day.
Marketing is a marathon. You will win with stick-ability. Be committed ~ have intention ~ build it, and they will come.
These are just a few of the ways to grow your market. We have many more facts that stand between outstanding and mediocre ways of growing your business. I hope these recommendations help you overcome some of your stress and fast-track your business.
