Hello SOTGC community!
Whether it be a career or a hobby, a way of sharing your feelings with the entire world or expressing your deepest feelings on the pages of a journal under lock and key, a composite of eloquent philosophical thoughts or a raw depiction of everyday life, writing is an omnipresent aspect of how we human beings express ourselves.
I was inspired to write this post as this past weekend marked the one year anniversary of my personal blog, Positively profession-elle, a blog dedicated to finding balance, realizing dreams and embracing ambition for the young female professional. Looking back on an exciting year of writing, blogging, and creating, I came to realize that writing for my readers had an immense impact on my own personal growth and well-being. Ultimately, being there for my readers allowed me, in turn, to “be there for me.”
Writing has the capacity to allow us to share our thoughts, express our feelings, and even achieve a more insightful take on our own experiences through reflection and introspection.
No matter what type of role writing plays in your life, the following ten quotes are some of my favorites in capturing the power that writing can have on an individual. Enjoy! I hope they speak to you and inspire you to make writing a bigger part of your lives!
“The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.”~ Maya Angelou
“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” ~ Ernest Hemingway
“Writing means sharing. It’s part of the human condition to want to share things – thoughts, ideas, opinions.” ~ Paulo Coelho
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ~ Maya Angelou
“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” ~ Louis L’Amour
“I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” ~ Anne Frank
“Tears are words that need to be written.” ~ Paulo Coelho
“The true alchemists do not change lead into gold; they change the world into words.” ~ William H. Gass
“Words are a lens to focus one’s mind.” Ayn Rand
“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.” ~William Wordsworth
