Hello SOTGC community,
As someone immersed in the marketing side of social media, a common question that seems to circle around is: How hard can it be? The answer is that it’s not hard, but it does take time, strategy, and commitment to be of marketing and branding value. A random post here and there simply will not cut it for your business. That’s where a social media marketer comes in to help.
Social media for business is much different than how you use it your personal life. Your audience, goals, and intention is more strategically thought about rather than if you’re going to share personal news about your life with your followers. Proper attention must be paid to a social media campaign for it to succeed.
1. Visibility. If you are not promoting your product or business online, then you are missing a resource that 93 percent of marketers use for their business, according to Fast Company.
2. Consistency. Social media shows that you are consistent with producing a product and interacting with clients. This means daily posts and constant interaction.
3. Strategy. The type of posts you use is important, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. It’s important to strategize the right timing of posts, how many posts per day, how the message should be presented on each social media channel and the list goes on and on. If you are thinking like a marketer, you will not create a copy + paste version of your content.
4. Value. You might have the best product among your competition, but if you are not promoting this in the right way, no one will know about it. Word of mouth only goes so far; however, online virality can reach an audience of millions.
Social media takes researched time to implement well. The time that goes into crafting, scheduling, and responding to posts across several different channels can be consuming, but well worth it.
