Hello SOTGC community,
When I first heard about the ‘Ban Bossy’ campaign I wasn’t sure how I felt. The campaign resonated with the part of me that didn’t like being called ‘bossy’ just because I liked to ‘get things done’, and the other part of me felt like it was the silliest thing I had ever heard. I mean really, who tries to ban a word?
That won’t solve anything, right?
With names like Sheryl Sandburg, Beyoncé and Jennifer Garner all joining in to
‘Ban Bossy’, word spreads fast. Now, a few months later, and with a bit more research, I am starting to understand what they are trying to accomplish: raising awareness and helping women feel supported instead of misunderstood. However, I believe that simply having a ‘Ban Bossy’ campaign isn’t enough. I mean, I know a few people that I think really are bossy, and I believe they’re that way because that is how they were taught to lead.
There is another way to lead; one that empowers and motivates those around us while getting us what we want without being called ‘bossy’.
I believe that the concepts and practices of Mindful Communication could be the key to helping us to be considered a great leader AND get what we want!
I say let’s cultivate an environment where we can thrive; where we can be assertive, inclusive and empowering, and where we don’t have to ban the word ‘bossy’ because that term won’t even come to mind.
To help us get one step closer, I’m providing a FREE webinar to all SOTGC readers that will provide tangible tools you can use to create the success you want, while also being seen as a positive influence in your professional and personal environment.
As a working mother, I know that things can get busy and that a good time for me might not be a good time for you, so, in an effort to make this accessible to everyone, I’ve prerecorded the webinar so that you can listen in when it works best for you.
