Hello SOTGC community,
Checklists come in a variety of packages. We have grocery lists, to-do lists, task lists, and project lists. My personal favorite is the “no” list; those activities we will say “no” to in our lives (that’s another blog).
Why not a Success checklist? Yes, we all define success very differently and that is what makes us unique. For the purpose of this blog, let’s define Success in terms of career.
You might be thinking that checklists are too rigid; they turn us into robots and squash our creativity. I’ve found they actually do the opposite. Checklists empty our brains so we can focus and build our capacity to do more.
I also find that by writing things down, achievement is 100% guaranteed.
Here’s my Success list:
- Keep my resume updated.
- Know my strengths.
- Create a career plan.
- Build a professional network.
- Manage my physical energy.
What would you add to the list?
For the next five weeks I’ll blog on one item in the Success checklist, sharing tips and ideas for how to be prepared for Success. After all, Success is when opportunity meets preparedness, and my wish for you is that you’re always prepared.
Here’s to your success!
