Hello SOTTG community,
Here is our latest MMH for all you business women who work with (and negotiate with) men. Anna Runyan is the Founder of Classy Career Girl, and her website became a Forbes Top 100 Websites For Your Career the same year SOTGC made it. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Anna when she attended my speaking engagement: How to Turn Adversity Into Advantage and she is wonderfully intelligent, articulate, and inspiring to learn from.
This month she share her new book “The Professional Woman’s Guide to Managing Men” which I read prior to publication and LOVED! For more reviews and the full media kit please check out: The Professional Woman’s Guide to Managing Men Media Kit. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did and get some great tips for your career and business.
If you’ve ever thought that men can seem difficult to figure out, let alone manage, then this guide is for you. Through step-by-step exercises and practical techniques, Anna will demonstrate the most effective ways to communicate with and manage your male employees. This straight-talking guide will take you through exercises to help conquer the perfectionism that undermines so many of our careers. You’ll learn to assert and promote yourself, and to coach your team to be successful in their own careers, establishing their trust along the way. Finally, you’ll learn what not to do when managing men and how to expertly handle management situations you might have floundered in.
The top three things you will learn:
- How to identify and find confidence in your unique female management strengths
- How to establish trust by supporting and coaching your male employees
- How to successfully use humor, gamesmanship and competition on your team
Why I wrote the book:After working in a male dominated field for 8 years, I made a lot of mistakes and I learned a lot about working with men. I often struggled getting my ideas across and earning the trust and respect with the men on my team. It was a challenge to get into the boy’s network and learn how to motivate the men. In my eight years working primarily with men, I learned a lot and I wrote this book because I wanted to help other women not make the same mistakes that I did. All women no matter what their job is, need to know how to successfully work with men and this book teaches them how.
