Hello SOTGC community,
The air is still cold in England, and even though spring will officially be here next week, I am still wearing my winter gloves. This inspired my more whimsical choice of theme this week. Below is my little guide on glove etiquette.
1. Gloves are never worn indoors, unless it’s at the theatre, a formal reception, or at a ball.
2. A lady should not take off her gloves in order to shake hands, and she does not need to apologise for keeping them on.
3. Gloves must be removed when eating, even if it’s just hors d’oeuvres or canapés. Gloves may be kept on for pre-dinner cocktails.
4. Long evening gloves are standard for a white tie event. Wearing rings over gloves is regarded as distasteful, but a well-chosen bracelet worn over gloves is elegant.
