Hello SOTGC community,
Black Friday is not the best time to shop for apparel.
Surprised? Well, it’s just not – at least not in the way you may have thought.
Sure there are bargains to be had, but all too often the **special deals** are on pieces that do not add true value to your wardrobe. You know…those printed pants you bought this time last year at a steal still hanging in the back of your closet, because you have nothing to wear with them. Or those boots you got at below cost, but they are a half size too small and give you blisters and a splitting headache every time you wear them.
I think there’s a better way to shop for apparel and accessories on Black Friday (and Cyber Monday).
Starting today your schedule just got even more crazy busy. In addition to all the holiday decorating, cooking and gift giving, you’ve now got tons of mingling to do.
So why not take the opportunity to look for the perfect holiday party outfit?!
I’ve always found organization to be a lifesaver during the holidays. It allows me more freedom to fully enjoy the spirit of the season. When I’ve got ‘what to wear’ to each party with friends, family and co-workers off my holiday checklist, it’s a super feeling.
If you need to buy a few new party pieces on Black Friday, you may not get the low price you expected, but at least you will feel confident and excited with the purchases you do make and the outfits you’re able to create. That’s money well spent. Plus, you’re not going to have to settle for what’s left on the rack and, instead, you’ll be able to get the exact dress, sparkly top or stilettos that you really want and that make you feel spectacular at each holiday event.
An alternative approach to buying new pieces is to rent your ideal party outfit. Black Friday is a great day to book your look. Check out my Forbes interview with Rent The Runway CEO for information on its new Holiday Shops and lots more.
Is Black Friday a big shopping day for you? Do you prefer doing it online or in-store? Have I convinced you to jumpstart pre-planning your holiday outfits today?
