Allow me to use an analogy if you would …
This morning I reflected upon a pre-scheduled meeting I had with Dr. J.Lauer and Dr. M. Reid
in our Space Station cafeteria area – and realized we were all drinking our shared beverage of choice: Starbuck’s Iced Vanilla Soy Latte (in gravity enhanced thermal insulated mugs).
What’s remarkable about this is that the Starbuck’s brand has stayed alive all this time – even in the 58th century – unbelievable! Of course this venerable brand has taken on a much larger meaning – Starbucks as market-leading purveyor of caffeinated beverages amongst the Stars (and I don’t mean celebrities).
So if we analyze the success and staying power of this iconic brand – a brand that most everyone can relate to – what can we learn?
A truly long-term sustainable brand has to be change adaptive – it has to stay ahead of the curve by constantly polling its consumer customers – and it has to be rapidly responsive to changing preferences.
Any brand intending to bridge the centuries has to be top quality, flawless in its delivery and cognizant of its own mistakes.
Think about your own Personal Brand – will you pass the great test of time?
A daunting question for sure!
Be bold – be positive – be future-hip.
