Hello SOTGC community,
I’d like to introduce you to our newest guest author who is the Founder and CEO of SD Office Properties. I met Lindsey due to a random happenstance. My best friend Carina was looking for a commercial real estate I emailed Misty Moore who had done an interview for SOTGC awhile back. Misty is expecting her second child soon (HUGE congrats) so she referred us to her friend Lindsey. Yesterday I met with Lindsey for coffee, she is an entrepreneur and loves the concept of helping other women start their dream business. After an hour at coffee talking about her various business ideas and the journey she has been on I had to ask if she’d be willing to write segments about her emotional and practical journey into going from “big corporate America” into “solopreneur.” She agreed, and I have the honor of introducing our readers to Ms. Lindsey Smith!
When people say, ‘if you want something done well, give it to a busy person,’ they might be talking about commercial real estate agent and broker Lindsey Smith. Her go-getter attitude has gained the attention of movers and shakers in business and charitable sectors, and they always seem to want Lindsey on their teams.
In November 2011, just in time for her 30th birthday, Lindsey founded San Diego Office Properties. Her approach to business has been the foundation for her significant success at such a young age: “It’s more than the business; it’s the people behind it.” She takes the time to treat each client as a partner, finding an office and lease that match their strategy, culture and budget, ensuring a perfect fit. Lindsey spends as much time on building relationships as she does on negotiations.
Lindsey’s background has positioned her well for starting a new company. For eight years she worked at international commercial real estate giants CB Richard Ellis and Cassidy Turley. Her tenure at Cassidy Turley was in that company’s commercial office division working as a leasing agent and a key member of the local team.
While at CB Richard Ellis, Lindsey worked on capital market transactions/portfolio sales of nationwide senior housing assets – one of the fastest growing areas in the commercial real estate industry. Her expertise and hard work resulted in her group winning the Team of the Year Award in 2006 and 2007. During her time at CB Richard Ellis, Lindsey’s team handled $3.3 billion dollars in transactions.
Throughout her career, Lindsey has worked with clients of all sizes, including some of the U.S.’s largest companies – organizations that demand only the best and the brightest handle their commercial real estate needs. Her clients include Aflac Insurance, Ameriprise Financial, Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Lumedyne Technologies, Meridian Realty Investments, Proven Staffing, Kilroy Realty, CDC Small Business Finance and many others.
In 2012, Lindsey and her team were awarded the “recipient of San Diego Metropolitan Magazine’s 40 under 40 award.”
When asked, “what’s one of the best benefits to being an entrepreneur?” she replied: having the ability and time to give a significant amount of time to multiple professional organizations that benefit the San Diego community in a variety of ways.
