Hello SOTGC community,
Welcome to the world of Wonderful Wellbeing at SOTCG! This post is meant to help create awareness for our mind and body’s health. Please share this post with someone you feel could really benefit from the message. Or if you really agree, please post on your Facebook or tweet it so others may also experience the message of wellbeing.
I am so excited to be sharing the wisdom, information, and practices that I have acquired during my years as an RN, wellness coach, meditation instructor, and Chopra Center Director! These tools have not only served my patients and clients – they have been invaluable to me on my own path to wellbeing.
From losing 10 pounds, to improving my immunity, to dealing with depression and anxiety, some of my friends used to call me “Crisis Christie,” a nickname I am beyond thrilled to have retired! The tools I am going to share have equipped me with the abilities to create the level of health and wellbeing that I truly desire.
SOTGC is all about empowerment, support, and breaking through the barriers that stand in our way of success. One of the most important messages that I can share with you via Wonderful Wellbeing is that high levels of wellbeing are possible for everyone, and it’s time we all get out of our own way!
If we start this first post with the physical body, we can see the amazing potential that we all have.
The body is truly a miraculous thing. Without our direction, it regulates our temperature, digests our food, protects us against harmful bacteria, keeps oxygen and blood circulating through our system…its functions are endless.
When we are out of balance, in any area of our lives, some of these functions become less effective, and we experience things like the flu, indigestion, poor sleep, or even chronic disease.
However, if you take away nothing more from this post, please know this: the body possesses an amazing potential to change and heal. Nothing is fixed.
Did you know that your stomach lining renews itself every five days, your skeleton gets refurbished every three months, your skin updates itself every five weeks, and your fat cells flush out and exchange every three weeks???
Even the body you went to bed with last night (and by this I am referring to your own body), is not the same body that you woke up with this morning. Essentially, that version of you is gone; or better put, it has evolved and transformed. Usually these changes are so small that they are not perceivable, because they occur at the cellular level. Sometimes though, much to our excitement, some changes are visible, like when we wake up looking less tired than we did the day before, or that pesky blemish has finally decided to leave our lovely face…see you later concealer!
There is a great experience I want to share with you that is happening right now, that is directly related to the ideas I have just shared. The Chopra Center is currently hosting a virtual 21-Day Meditation Challenge, and the topic of this series is Perfect Health. It is a topic that is near and dear to me, as I was once the Perfect Health Program Director and Center Director at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing.
Although the Challenge started on Monday, it is not too late to sign up, and it’s free. Here is the link to sign up – www.chopracentermeditation.com. Once you sign up, you will receive a guided audio meditation in your inbox each day, which you can listen to you at your convenience. You can also log in to the site to access the meditations, which are available for 7 days once they have been released.
By the way, Deepak has partnered with Oprah for this Challenge, so it has been getting quite a bit of attention…at the time of writing this post, there are almost 15K comments posted within the site…people are loving it, and I’m sure you will too!
The meditations are based on the exact wisdom that I shared above in this blog, and will serve to help you better understand, and connect to, your body’s innate wisdom. You know what they say -awareness is the first step. As you deepen your awareness of just how amazing your body is, you will enliven your ability to influence your health and wellbeing in a positive direction…and that is my wish for you!
