Hello SOTGC community,
Welcome to the charter diary entry into Lip Gloss Diaries. I’m Cobi Collins and I’m just thrilled you’ve joined us here! I love the energy that comes from a woman who feels beautiful inside and out. When we feel good about ourselves, we look good and vice versa. Our little “some’in’, some’in’ ” shows up when we are not so self-conscious – it brings out our confidence and charisma, don’t you agree? Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder and we are all wonderfully and beautifully made but we all rock it in our own unique way.
In this section of SOTGC, I hope you will find creative inspiration toward discovering or re-discovering your own true beauty through fashion, skin care, glamour and laughter. I will share the latest trends from the runway and how to apply them to your everyday business and professional lives in practical ways. I mean, let’s face it, few of us are daring enough to wear the wild things we see on the runways to work or to our kids sports games and these might not be the most appropriate places to do so. But you better know you’re worth sprucing up every day because people are watching you, looking up to you even. And, you can dang sure wear body shape appropriate runway looks for a night out!
Here you’ll get pictures, tutorials, links to great products and I’ll be sharing my new journey to taping into my “venutian” or feminine side. You see, I’ve been working in a totally male dominated world for a very long time and kind of lost touch with my softer side which negatively impacted my most important relationship with my beau and made me not have as much fun with the women I’m privileged enough to work with in Mary Kay.
I used to dress to look very serious, business like, and dominant. Women need to have some fun – we don’t get that at work and I don’t hear many husbands raving about how clean the toilet is when he gets home from work and bringing flowers because the kids were so well behaved that day. Do you get the praise you’ve earned and have the fun you desire? I want to hear from you and look forward to you joining in the discussion with this exciting and thriving community of women with purpose.
So, let’s get on with it!…
Dear Diary,
I need some color in my pasty white skin and Spring is on its way in. Can you feel the air warming up a little where you live? We sure can here in Texas. We’re enjoying mid 70s with a cool breeze during the day and low 60s at night. (That cool breeze with not enough rain brings with it loads of pollen in the air so central Texans also have lots of sniffles and sneezes from allergies… but this too shall pass.)
This Spring, fashion is all about shape in bold black & white with geometric prints and a pop of color in your accessories.
Low heels and flats with a sexy 90s pointed toe are back! They’ve been updated with dainty ankle straps and uniquely shaped heels
I know beauty hurts but please be kind to your feet (they will carry you many miles in this life) and try on shoes until you find something that is comfortable and wearable in the latest trend. Unless, of course, it’s for a special occasion where you’ll be standing still or sitting most of the time – then, go wild and make a statement with your footwear. We have so many choices in shoes and they are crazy fun! (Austin actually has this great professional women’s networking group “Shoe Sisters” where we get to show off and help each other find the most fun footwear.)
Spring Glamour, think “Zen in Bloom” – a smokey eye with a great pink lip and nail. Or a little lemongrass and turquoise on the eye with a glossy neutral lip.
A silvery, shimmery, smoky eye not only dominated the runway this season… but is also a smoky eye that looks fah-bu-lousfor almost any occasion! Now you’re in the know for Spring. Do something fun with your closest gal pals and have a Spring Fling. Get some of the new on-trend colors and try some of the makeup artist looks you’ll find here on my website: http://www.marykay.com/cobi/en-US/TipsAndTrends/MakeupArtistLooks

Cheers,
Cobi
