How To Get Invited to Play Golf – by Jenn Harris

Hello SOTGC community,

I think one of the hardest things to do when trying out a new activity is figure out how to get your co-workers to invite you to these events, or even just to broach the subject yourself.  Here is a helpful tip from Jenn Harris of (highheelgolfer).

How to get invited to play golf:

Ok so this is a tricky one. It does not matter what level of golfer you are, men aren’t always going to want to play golf with you. They will if it’s a company setting, like a company scramble or outing, but when it comes to their time with the guys they don’t want ladies around.

Since I’m a great golfer who could have played division 1 golf, I get invited to play in groups most women don’t…but it still isn’t as often as I’d like. So don’t push getting invited to play with the guys but definitely put it out there that you are learning and would love to play. In a corporate situation they won’t overlook you because they are golfing more for fun than for “guy time.”  So when those chances roll around, head to the course and prove to your clients and coworkers that you are fun, fast, and have integrity. Also try and set up a foursome with the guys in the office, if you plan it they shouldn’t say no, but if you keep waiting to get invited it may never happen.
