Last night I went to a function that Bridget Grimes (who writes our Money posts) held at HoyleCohen. At the event I met Laurie Itkin who is the Founder of The Options Lady which she launched to inspire, educate, and empower women to become successful self-directed investors in the stock and options market. She mentors women on how to research and analyze stocks and generate monthly income using conservative options strategies.
Laurie is a co-author of Empower: Stories of Breakthrough, Triumph and Discovery which will be published in the Spring of 2013. In the book she recalls how her mother was dependent on men for both her financial security and her self-worth. Vowing to become financially independent, Laurie began investing at the age of 24 with $1,600 her grandmother had left her and became a millionaire before the age of 40.
Laurie believes that all women — no matter how much they earn or how old they are — can learn to save and invest for their future. For more information on classes, mentoring, and advice, Laurie can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Laurie has agreed to write our new category called “Trading Up” which will feature posts and tips about how to make intelligent choices on trading stocks, as well as industry trends to follow.
