Hello SOTGC community,
Pretty much everyday about mid-day or end of day I need a refresh. However, I don’t
often have products on hand. What’s a gal to do?! Here are my tips for looking refreshed
without a product in sight.
Take a Note
Pen, pencil, finger, stylus, sharpie, whatever you prefer, pause for a few minutes and
write out 10-20 things you are grateful for right now. Gratitude does the body and brain
good! This one step actually accomplishes two things at once! The first few on the list might be
a bit hasty but by the 8th or 12th item your brain starts shifting to let you enjoy the thought. Your
blood pressure lowers, your mind clears, and it’s easier to relax or refocus.
Using your voice to breathe life into your own heart and then into someone else’s brings
a glow back to your eyes and your face. What’s one thing you can encourage yourself with
right now? Next, who is one person you can surprise by speaking a word … or three … of
encouragement to right now? By the way, you truly are amazing. Here you are taking time to
read my blog while you also are taking care of business and caring for yourself. Amazing!
Close your eyes and imagine your most favorite place with your most favorite person
with you there now. Take five minutes to breathe it in, smile, hear the sounds, yes imagine you
are fully there. To add to it, consider this next step: As you begin to come back to the present,
imagine, what would you do next if you had a full refresh of energy, focus, and vision?
Yes, this one is a bit of a no-brainer but needs mentioning. Drink a glass of chilled water,
preferably filtered. We all know the benefits of water and in this case, it’s both the actual water
and the moments spent pausing to consume it that help with the refresh.
Whether you have been sitting for a bit, walking, or on the go, a few minutes of full-body
stretches make a difference. The stretches will naturally cause you to breathe bringing oxygen
into your blood and releasing any lactic acid from your muscles. If you pair it with a long reach
upwards and a long resting hang from the waist, come up with a smile and see how refreshed
This one I think is the most fun. I often work in my office with the window open but no one to
share it with outside of clients. So walking downstairs or outside to the courtyard allows me to
pause to share these with a colleague or a friend. My soul gets a refresh too since I’m a major
