Hello SOTGC community,
Your number could range from 0 to 10. You know those days when you wake up and everything seems to go your way. It doesn’t matter how ugly it is outside, you just seem to be walking on water. The clouds above you are clear, and the sun is shining just for you to enjoy.
Then, on the other hand, there are those days that no matter what you try to do, nothing works out the way you planned or hoped it would. It begins the moment your eyes open. Instantly that massive headache from the night before is still making it difficult to see, let alone think. It has you afraid to turn as any sudden movement could easily worsen the situation.
With these two examples in mind, it’s relatively easy to determine where someone would fall on the scale from 0 to 10. Think about how your mood feels on those days where you fall from 0 to 5. How is your attitude and outlook on the day? Is this day filled with senseless meetings, reports, and no real time to reflect on anything?
I say that we all have the acumen, energy, and knowledge to wake and walk this earth as a 10 each and every day! Being a 10 means nothing at all rattles you. It doesn’t matter the situation and how taxing it is. You are in your flow and are able to handle all things with grace. You are a woman on a mission to slay anything in your way.
Yes, I’m fully aware that the above scenario isn’t as stress-free as I just indicated. There is and will always be obstacles, challenges, and things out of our control. However, I’m suggesting that those things, and issues we often call life … shouldn’t have the power to take us from a 10 to a 3 in an instant! One of my favorite quotes, “Carry your weather with you,” is a concept that embodies the notion that you and you alone are in charge of your own weather! This means your attitude and how you approach life is your decision. You hold the keys to the kingdom when it comes to your number for each and every day.
This is no different than determining what you’re going to wear to work, to a party, or to your lunch date with friends. Sure, selecting your clothes might not take as much effort as staying a 10 for the day. However, like all things in life, it takes practice, concentration, and resilience. I liken it to meditation. Think about the first time you tried it. It probably didn’t go as you thought. It required much more than you previously thought. You had to keep reminding yourself that you’re supposed to be meditating and allowing your mind the time to quiet itself. Then, as you committed to the process, day after day, week after week, and then month after month …you had a consistent flow.
This is what determining your number for the day is like. You will have to be aware that there’s always going to be the threat of a rainy day, bad meeting, or life issues. But the power to choose your number and keep it is a decision that you can hold and harness. As you move about, thinking and processing all that life has to offer, remind yourself that you should never place the keys to your happiness in someone else’s pocket.
How are you going to protect your number? When life happens, and it will, what tools are you going to use to remain in a place that’s productive? Think of some difficult situations and what you could have done to remain positive. Share your strategies and give the gift of sharing with other like-minded women.
