Hello SOTGC Community,
Every new year I’ve taken the opportunity to reflect on my previous year’s accomplishments well before I set my goals for the next year. Not only do I reflect on my accomplishments but I also reflect on what I could have done differently. Of course, it’s easy to focus on what didn’t go well this year versus what did, but when I put my mind to it, my list and associated comments were comprehensive and give me great opportunities to think.
On my Radio Show, Breaking the Glass Ceiling, Going Beyond Expectations, I interviewed Mikki Williams, an outrageous international speaker, trainer, consultant, author, radio and TV personality. Mikki believes that the key to your success is to show up as who you truly are; therefore we title the show “Conformity Should Never Be In Your Vocabulary”. Mikki shared that every year she chooses a theme for her life to live by such as happiness or gratitude. She aligns her annual theme with her goals and other initiatives across her life–to the point that she embeds the theme solidly into her sub-conscious and by doing so she starts to see the theme work in her life. For more information on this topic listen to this show: http://webtalkradio.net/internet-talk-radio/2014/11/10/breaking-the-glass-ceiling-going-beyond-expectations-conformity-should-never-be-in-your-vocabulary/.
As I reflected on this past year for myself, especially on the actions and outcomes I want to change, I saw a much needed theme—to reclaim my approach to be proactive. So I wrote my goals for the year and put a plan into place of how to get out in front of every aspect of my life both at work and at home. By being proactive, I won’t miss great opportunities and will be able to manage the negative stress in my life.
I challenge you to take this same advice, choose a theme this year and make it the best year of your life—live it so it serves your best interest and intents.
Share your chosen theme with myself and others at https://twitter.com/findyouraim.
Here’s to your success! Dorothy
