Hello SOTGC community,
As you have noticed, there are many requirements of a great leader. It includes people action along with managing people, time, and projects. It’s really hard to be a leader, but it is worth it. There is no easy way to success. No one hands out success to leaders. No one celebrates the way of leadership with trumpets and flowers. It is all about hard work and determination. In fact, many leaders aren’t even considered great until after a major trial or hardship. This is the fate of all leaders.
The best leaders in history have been people who have worked hard to get where they needed to go. No one who was ever handed anything ended up being a great leader. Instead, the people who had to work for success are the most remembered leaders. This is because they learned how to handle adversity. They learned the value of hard work and the value of perseverance.
“There is no royal flower-strewn path to success. And if there is, I have not found it for if I have accomplished anything in life it is because I have been willing to work hard.” – Madam C.J. Walker
Adversity makes us stronger. It is said that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, and this saying is true. Adversity teaches us how to conquer the world. It teaches us to bend without breaking. It teaches us courage and compassion. Adversity is what makes us who we are. It makes us better leaders. Followers know the plights of leaders. They know when a leader has been to hell and back. Often, it makes the followers appreciate the leader more. The followers know that the leader is willing to fight. They know that the leader knows the plight of the everyman. Followers see when a leader works hard, and it makes them love the leader all the more.
Followers want to connect with their leaders. They want to know that the leader knows the plight of the everyman. People respect others who know what adversity is like. They want to know that their leader is just like them. It gives them a sense of connection and loyalty.
People are more loyal to those like themselves. So a leader that has been through adversity is someone that the followers love and respect. He is someone that the followers can relate to. The followers know that the leader has been in their shoes and has been able to rise above the adversity.
When you are faced with difficulties, just remember that the adversity that you face is something that will make you a better leader. When the path is hard and you have to work day and night to accomplish things, remember that this is something that will make you a better leader. It will give you more experience in the world, and it will allow you to connect with your followers. It will teach you to be flexible and will teach you to smile in the face of adversity.
