Hello SOTGC community,
I have never been on a trip with friends or even an all-girls trip until this month. I was lucky enough to go on two girls trips, and, coming out of them, I asked myself: “Why did I wait this long?” Even though we were trying to get a bigger group together, it ended up being just the two of us, and the conversations and laughs couldn’t have been any more soul-lifting.
My friend and I conquered the streets of Montreal. We wanted to go somewhere we hadn’t been before but was close enough for a three-day getaway. Upon arrival, we were roaming the streets of downtown and finally crossing off our bucket list the “eating out of a food truck” experience. We continued enjoying the day by eating through the day and having a delicious cup of coffee. What made this trip even more memorable was the fashion show at night that we ran into.
After a night of watching different designers and dancing to great music, we got up the next day and experienced the town by bus. We ran into this cute little café on a corner where people were already having brunch. Our tastes were blown away by a sesame bagel and a homemade cream cheese spread that was accompanied by a barracito coffee. Maybe it wasn’t so much the food but the atmosphere and weather, which couldn’t have been any more perfect.
In the afternoon, our senses truly got to relax after a massage and a sauna experience. We took time out of our busy schedules to simply relax, be in the present, and enjoy each other’s company. I couldn’t believe I waited this long to go on a girls trip because it simply was relaxing and we were able to have some great conversations. It is hard at times to make room for the simplest things such as taking a walk or enjoying a glass of wine with your best friend. It is moments like this that can lift your spirit and allow you to put so many things into perspective.
There are three reasons why I think everyone should go on a girls trip:
1. You will do things you always wanted, such as attending a fashion show or eating out of a food truck.
2. You will never laugh more than with your best friend (and laughter is good for the soul).
3. You will recharge and be able to put life’s pressures into perspective.
It’s never too late to take your girlfriend by the hand and head for the next sunset to wherever your heart desires. The one-on-one time you will spend will give everybody time to catch up and, maybe, even allow you to do a bit of day dreaming. So, I ask you to clear your calendar and plan a three-day getaway. Let us know in the comments section if you took one in the past and how it helped you.
