Hello SOTGC community,
Are you a loyal person?
You’ve probably never been asked that before … or even thought about it much.
But when asked, your mind gets busy creating a whole list of people, products, and things that you’re loyal too.
As women, we are loyal to a fault. We love our families and will go out our way to make their life easier. We only purchase the brands that we feel are the best and shop at the stores that value our loyalty.
Although loyalty is awesome, at times, it can be a detriment. Especially for women.
Typically, women include their career or the company they work for on their loyalty list, spending years working their way up the proverbial ladder, in hopes that one day the loyalty will pay off … despite working 80-hour weeks, missing family events, and burning the candle at both ends.
If your loyalty has left you wondering … is this what success is suppose to look like? Then it may be time to rethink your loyalty by asking yourself the following questions.
- What do I really want my life to look like?
Take a good look at where you are in life. Maybe, when you first started on your career path, it was just you and no one else. The thought of working 80 hours a week and traveling for business sounded exciting and full of adventure, but now, you have a family to think about. And what was once exciting, is now exhausting and unmanageable at times.
2. What am I really giving up?
If working 80 hour weeks with little flexibility has left you, once again, worrying about the needs of you and your family, then what are you really giving up for your loyalty?
3. Is it worth it to outsource your life?
When you find yourself spending what little free time you have deciding on what to outsource in your life because you just don’t have time for life … then it’s time to ask yourself … is my current career path worth it? Maybe it’s time to weigh my options. It’s interesting that last year, Forbes reported that entrepreneurship is the new women’s movement. Leaving you to ponder … is entrepreneurship your new movement!
So … if you’re feeling burnt out and exhausted, maybe it’s time to turn your career loyalty over to yourself by starting your own business that will allow you to create your own destiny.
It would seem that women having it all is just a myth, but not if you create your own success.
To your success!
