Hello SOTGC community,
March is Women’s History Month where we take time to honor the women who stepped outside the status quo and took great personal and career risks to pave the way for future generations of women leaders. Today I want to honor the amazing female political figures of the past like Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth I, Indira Gandhi, and Susan B. Anthony. To applaud the trailblazers who paved the way for women in science like Elizabeth Blackwell and Marie Curie. And to salute the brave women who risked their own safety to help others such as Harriet Tubman, Joan of Arc, and Rosa Parks.
I would also like to give tribute to the women making history today. Though not all will be named in a list for their single contribution, all have helped create a movement to advance the progress of women in business. These are women that you work next to each day; that you might meet in a coffee shop or pass by in a crowded street as you go about your day. These are the women who are supporting each other, promoting each other, and sharing tips for success so that more women can advance in the ranks in business.
While honoring all the women who have come before us is critical to seeing the progress that we’ve made in society and business, I also believe it’s crucial to honor the women who are part of a movement today that’s sweeping the globe and moving the needle forward through collaboration and dedication. So to all you women who are supporting your peers, who are mentoring others, and who are going out of your way to help each other, I give you a huge salute. No matter what the statistics say, we ARE making progress and we ARE part of a positive movement for the success of women.
So I wish you all a wonderful month, and please feel free to comment at the bottom of this post with a woman in history that inspires you…and also comment with a women who is currently in YOUR life that is inspiring and whom YOU feel should be given an honorable mention for her contribution.
