Hello SOTGC community,

Just to give you an idea of just how complicated the Supply Chain has become these days,
I will tell you about my day-to-day reality.
I’m listening to an old Smokey Robinson tune while I am preparing to go on-line and draft my daily space blog (Slog).
I want to relax, open up my mind and get to work.
As usual, I want to be sipping on a traditional club soda and lime – and here’s the rub …
The sparkling water has to be imported from an artesian well on Jupiter, which is no easy task. Even though there is no import tax on Jupiter, the umteen processes that combine to get that water from sub-surface to my glass here in the space station is mind-boggling.
And let’s take the lime … limes have to be grown hydroponically and for some reason don’t seem to last long once picked. Actually, the shelf life of a hydroponic lime in the space station environment is only 12 hours. Refrigeration adds a few additional hours if you are lucky!
What’s up with that??
So even the simplest of concoctions require combining ridiculously variable timeframes and costs related to a very complex interstellar supply chain – the future just doesn’t get any easier!
To be continued …
In the future, everything is possible!
