Hello SOTGC community,
HRCaptain’s Log Star Date AD 6556
I was recalling what it felt like to be packed into a space transport vehicle with 15 other stellarnauts plus equipment, oxygen tanks etc … just like sardines. The closeness can be claustrophobic and you can’t wait to disembark – you even feel nauseous and hemmed-in.
In a way, the people you choose to relate to, collaborate and team with, and socialize with, are the people you want to stay close to, stay in touch with, and optimize your relationship with.
Conversely, you want to keep your distance from people who you perceive to be toxic and unhealthy for your investment of time and energy.
You might think this is easy – maybe so.
The concept of distance becomes expanded in space. We’re not talking miles or kilometers, we’re talking light years. Creating distance between you and others becomes a far more convenient exercise in space than it is in any given colony/community.
The watch-out is becoming too alienated from the people you intend to establish long-term relationships with. Once you get in the habit of living at a distance, it is very easy to lapse into
Distancing Addiction (DA) where you choose to connect with people rarely in person and usually only with electronic communications.
I believe as with most human dynamics, a healthy mix of distancing and non-distancing is the way to go. Don’t let your boundaryless freedom get in the way of your relationships – at least the ones you want to sustain.
I can see for miles : )
To be continued ….
In the future, everything is possible.
