Hello SOTGC community,
Here is our next SOTGC “Monthly Must Haves.”
The facts about the METAMorph dress, and the facts are Green: The METAmorph offers customers the unique ability to morph their own style and personality and feel good while doing it. The most important parts of the process of making the bamboo are all recyclable. It is processed in a hermetic container where 100% of the chemicals that are used are trapped and contained, not released into the factory, environment or atmosphere. Their bamboo fiber also has passed OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, which is a gold standard when it comes to testing for harmful substances. The bamboo used for the process is certified by (OCIA) Organic Crops Improvement Association International, which certifies that our bamboo is organic bamboo under “wild crops” and certified organic under “organic farms”
The philanthropic and environmentally conscious designer Sonja den Elzen says: “A portion of the proceeds from each dress is donated to five hand selected charities, which envision and align with the Thieves philosophy of a sustainable future. The indiegogo campaign ends December 30, 2013 and dresses will ship April 30 2014.”
My convo with the wonderfully zen Sonja den Elzen: When Sonja designs pieces, her first question is always: “Is it going to be gentle on the earth?” And the follow up question is: “Can the piece be worn throughout the seasons without it going out of style or out of season?” When designing for a woman’s body she has an interesting perspective. She looks at: “How do I create lines on a piece of fabric that will flow and move on a woman’s body?” The METAMorph dress is made from a fabric that has some stretch to it so women could wear it many different ways
Her collections eco-friendly fabrics, such as organic wool, organic cotton, peace silk, tencel and hemp. Sonja den Elzen was named one of the Top 10 Green Fashion Designers by Forbes.
Mantra: Connection and balance are everything. Be aware of your environment, those around you, and how you interact with everything.
