Hello SOTGC community,
My business, The Options Lady, is all about teaching women how to become successful investors. What I have discovered over the past year through working with a variety of women, is that in order to become a good investor, you must have a healthy relationship with money.
As women, we tend to focus time and energy on our relationship with our partners, children, parents, friends, bosses, and co-workers. We are so busy prioritizing our relationships with people, that we ignore our relationship with money. The irony is that money is often the subject that impacts our relationship with people. For example, one of the major reasons why marriages end in divorce is due to conflict over money.
How we feel about money is often impacted by the values and behaviors we observed about our parents. For instance, growing up did your parents give you everything you wanted or were you required to work and save for what you wanted? Were you raised by poor or wealthy parents? Was your mom stay-at-home or was she a working professional who brought home the bacon?
Your perceptions of money as a child often impact your choices and decisions as an adult. Whether you become a spendthrift or a saver or live a debt-laden life might be the result of your upbringing.
Do you as a business owner price your services to reflect your worth? Is your relationship with your boss suffering because he or she does not support your request for a raise?
Are you afraid to invest because you can’t bear the thought of losing money or are you prepared to lose money in order for the potential reward of growing your money?
We will explore these issues on Friday, Sept 13 from noon to 1pm at Hera Hub Sorrento Mesa. Click here for registration information. If you cannot attend in person, I welcome you to watch this short video:
