Hello SOTGC community,
Spring is my favorite time of year. I’m ever so grateful for the warmer days and cool evenings but I’m especially thankful for new beginnings. As I watch the flowers bloom, grass green, smell honeysuckle in the air and see baby bird beaks peeking over nests, I’m reminded that I too have an opportunity to become new again, refreshed, awakened to my adventuresome side & ever growing wisdom as a woman with a purpose and passion. This life was meant to be lived not observed.
As a mildly OCD cleaner and get-ridder-of-everything-not-in-use (yes, I like to make up my own descriptors), I love Spring as a solid excuse to clean out or refresh the old and add a little something new. What needs to be cleaned out today? A dingy spirit or overly worn pair of jeans that I just can’t let go? A burden that’s not mine to carry or a dress that’s lost its sparkle? A grudge that hinders my relationships or a dark lipstick that makes me look and feel old and tired? I will consider this question carefully and wait quietly for the answer to come. And while I do, I will prepare myself to lighten the load, clean out the dark and dirty places & things so that I will be completely free to move forward positively toward the purpose for which I was created. I am confident that nothing useful will be lost and only important things remain.
Lightening the load while cleaning & refreshing my older “things” this past week showed me that I too can be refreshed – even my mistakes can become something good for my life if I’m willing to not lug the past with me, realize I have only the energy for today, and trust that tomorrow will come with new and beneficial happenings.
So, let’s get on with the Spring Cleaning and be awakened to some new color- pull out the old nail polish caddy & lipstick bag/drawer/container and trash those separated, dried out, dark and dingy colors. Dark colors, on your lips and your hands make your skin look older. Only the gals 22 and under should really wear the trendy black and charcoal on their hands. Learn a new trick and add to your collection the gorgeous pastels and bright tones that bring a youthful glow. Don’t be sc’red, put on that army green, baby blue and punchy pink (one at a time please)! Just remember your nails should be on the shorter side to pull off trendy colors and still maintain a professional appearance. My fav brands that last without chipping and have a glossy finish are Esse and Mary Kay.

With a new “spring” in my step today, I sign off until next week where I will offer some much needed lip service.
