Above: Mega yacht I saw parked in the Marina on my run
Hello SOTGC community,
This is another post inspired by the recent conference I went to. Over the course of the four days I was in D.C., surrounded by some remarkably successful entrepreneurs, I probably heard at least 20 times “wow, I can’t wait till I can move to San Diego.” The first time I heard this I thought, “huh?” I grew up in San Diego, went to Santa Barbara for college, spent a year in France and then came back to Southern California. So I guess it sounds a bit odd to me to hear someone who I aspire to be like say that they can’t wait until they could move to where I’ve always lived.
Hearing this gave me a bit of a reality check. I workout 5 times a week, and especially in the “winter” I tend to go to the GYM all 5 days. Sometimes I find myself running on a treadmill inside a GYM, even when the weather is beautiful outside. After hearing the third person say how they want to move to San Diego I decided to get out and enjoy what other people apparently can’t wait to move to.
So my first day back, I went on a long run from my condo, down to the marina in downtown San Diego to enjoy the nice weather, the sun, the beautiful scenery surrounding me, and to remember to be extremely grateful for the fact that I get to enjoy this vacation destination as a way of life.
So how about you? What areas of your city do you take for granted, but you always hear tourists talk about how beautiful they are, and how lucky you are to live there? I’d love to hear about where you live because I have had little experience traveling around the US…and I’m always curious about other areas.
