Good morning SOTGC readers. The title of this post was inspired by a comment that was made at the recent regional sales meeting my team had. After a day of pounding away at clinical studies, strategy, and resource brainstorming, our regional sales team headed up to Del Mar for a late afternoon at the horse races. At the end of one of the races the results on the winners were being held up due to reviewing the start of the race. After several blurry replays of the start it was decided one of the horses had a late start and was disqualified from the race. This meant they would refund the money that people had bet on that horse.
Apparently one of our colleagues didn’t hear this being announced because he came wandering back to our tables talking about how he normally NEVER bets on races because his horses never come in. However he had decided to bet on this last race, and sure enough, his horse was the “late starter.” New Boss immediately informed him that people who bet on that horse could get a refund which received a response of “Oh….So…Silver lining! Sweet!”
I am a huge believer in the mantra of “everything happens for a reason. Even if it’s a horrible event and at the time you can’t figure out why the heck this would have happened….at some point, if you look hard enough, something positive will have come out of it.”
